Is my YAP Profile SEO friendly?

What a great question, the answer is very SEO (Search Engine Optimisation ) friendly indeed! But, as with all SEO practices, it can require a bit of thought on your part.

To give you a bit of information on how SEO works on our profiles lets say, for example, we have a profile page for Joanne Doe; a Yoga Teacher who has a company called Doe Yoga in London, United Kingdom.

The default SEO settings for the profile page pulls information from several variables. ( variables reference a stored value which changes from member to member, like your name or Company )

The following are the variables used for Listing Meta Title:

%City% %Profession% – %full_name% – %Company% – %Profession%

Which, for Joanne, would translate to the following information:

London – Yoga Teacher – Joanne Doe – Doe Yoga – Yoga Teacher

The following are the variables used for Listing Meta Keywords:

%Profession% – %Main Category% – %full_name% – %City% – %Profession% –%Main Category%

Which, for Joanne, would translate to the following information:

Yoga Teacher – Yoga Teachers –  Joanne Doe – London – Yoga Teacher – Yoga Teachers

The following are the variables used for Listing Meta Description:

Connect with %full_name%, %Profession% in %City%,  %Country%. Find %full_name% reviews and more.

Which, for Joanne, would translate to the following information:

Connect with Joanne Doe, Yoga Teacher in London,  United Kingdom. Find Joanne Doe reviews and more.

Optimising your profile for search engines

With the previous information in mind. You can see that in order to be found by search engines such as google. It is important for your profile information to be accurate and up to date. For instance, if Joanne no longer lived in London or conducted business under an alternate name, such as her maiden name. It would be difficult to find her profile via search engines or on the website.

There are some variables that members do not have access to such as your %Main Category% this is automatically assigned for you by our system.

However, variables that you do have access to, and should be updating regularly, are as follows:

%City%

%full_name%

%Company%

It is also possible for us, as admin, to manually customise the Member SEO Settings. This will only affect your profile. The Member SEO has higher priority than the Page SEO and the SEO Template. Meaning that any default SEO settings on that page would be ignored for your customised settings.
